Peanut Butter and Jelly College as some affectionately called it. What a beautiful lush garden filled campus it was back in 1969. There were also an inordinate number of beautiful southern Florida coeds taking their first fling at campus life. For a 21 year old "experienced" college student it was almost a wolf among the sheep. I enjoyed an interesting sample of wonderfully feminine companions as well as enjoyed an atmosphere of learning in a much less intimidating fashion than the mega-campus of U. of M. Also I had my first taste of anti Viet Nam war mentality at PBJC. It was a strange mix of sensations in the humid tropic Atlantic coast city of Lake Worth, Florida.
I did very well as far as grade point average but most important is what I referred to concerning the learning atmosphere. I was able to ENJOY more of my education at the junior college than at the larger school in Michigan. I was older and able to appreciate education but the low stress and low student load burden allowed me to easily finish the assigned tasks and absorb the lessons in ways leading to what education should be about ... the Joy of Learning. I was a pseudo campus radical and challenged (successfully) the power structure at the campus on some minor issues of student activities but was able to graduate without being asked to leave town ... Of all the wonders experienced in Lake Worth during that year I must say that Rosalie and Cheryl were the most wondrous of all !
