VEGETARIAN  LIFESTYLE  -  VEGAN

I have been a VEGAN
"no  food  made  of  animal  materials"
since the spring of 1991.

I would love to see this planet biothrive by
ceasing the domestication of animals for
purposes other than simple survival.

My first food, so I am told, was mother's milk. My father was a doctor and strongly believed in starting solid food for infants as soon as possible so I soon became a typical "Gerber's" baby. I have few early memories associated with food until about age 10. From 10 thru high school, I was extremely selective about what I would eat. Occasionally I would have a separate main course prepared for me because I would not eat what the family ate. Spaghetti was the most unpalatable dish I remember. I wouldn't eat pizza until I was about 16. Dad loved beef and we would routinely take our outboard motor boat across the 3 mile stretch over to Canada and load up on great priced range fed streaks to fill the freezer and the bar-b-que all summer. We ate quite "royally" back then. I loved steak and potatoes.

I was always thin and near age 10 I was actually called "skinny" by my perpetually pestering sister. I started to "fill out" in high school. After I started college, and especially when I started living in my own place in my 20's, I became much more omnivorous. For a few years I lived with my brother (Philip) and various females in a house in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was the dawning of the age of Macrobiotics and Natural Foods and Phil became a non meat eater. I was still highly conditioned to the "meat = protein = absolutely essential" mentality that was programmed into me as a child. I scorned and debated his lifestyle but we still lived quite harmoniously despite that one major difference. We all learn at our own speed ... Ironically, now that I have become a Vegan, he eats some animal products. It has been since the spring of 1991 that I have "purified" my diet and I am pleased and quite well adjusted to a "no animal products" lifestyle. There is debate the vegans lack "B12" vitamin. I took supplements for a while but have ceased doing so.

If we can be healthy without killing animals ... Why don't we? ... Taste and the "System" ... Wake up Humans ! ! ! The next time you want a hamburger, go to a ranch, get to know a cow, and look into its eyes as you kill it ........
